Adding Value – $2.5 Billion for Scrapping, Really ?

I read with great interest yesterday’s article in the WSJ about the $2.5 Billion dollar potential value of Pinterest, an on-line scrapbooking site. It’s amazing to me how much interest there is in a service that according to the article has little to no revenue and is unprofitable. The “value” being talked about is all based on the potential advertising dollars associated with such a service. I’d like to think that investors would be more interested in backing a service or product that had a tangible benefit – like productivity and organization. But hey – that’s just me.
