Customer Relationships – Benefits of Chitchat
Some call it “the gift of gab”, others think of it as “networking” and others frame it as “chitchat”. Tuesday’s (8/13/13) WSJ article entitled The Hidden Benefits of Chitchat does a nice job of reminding us about the basics of making small talk. It’s not all about you, it’s about getting to know the other person. Building customer relationships takes time and there’s a bit of an art to it. Maintaining that information for future use is one of the great benefits of a CRM system. The power of being able to easily look up a contact’s personal or past business information should not be underestimated. Nothing impresses a client more than remembering their spouse and/or their children’s names. The details do matter. Put yourself in position to impress.
