Defining CRM

Customer Relationship Management (noun):

  1. A management philosophy according to which a company’s goals can be best achieved through identification and satisfaction of the customers’ stated and unstated needs and wants.
  2. A computerized system for identifying, targeting, acquiring, and retaining the best mix of customers.

These definitions come from BusinessDictionary.com. The way the site splits the definition is interesting, because it really doesn’t allow for the two parts to coincide. It is either the philosophy or the system.

However, here at W5 Templates, we make it happen. Sure, we have developed a system that allows companies to organize their clients, projects and contacts. But in doing that, we have made those management philosophies that the first part of the definition describes become attainable.

Our goals are to make CRM simple, cost-effective, and usable. We’ve done this by developing a CRM tool based upon the previously used Excel, but also making it mobile so that companies can do their work on the go.

CRM shouldn’t be complicated. It should be easy, thus making the rest of the work that you do easy as well. Or, at least keep it organized!

The BusinessDictionary.com definition later goes on to say this:

“Customer relationship management helps in profiling prospects, understanding their needs, and in building relationships with them by providing the most suitable products and enhanced customer service. It integrates back and front office systems to create a database of customer contacts, purchases, and technical support, among other things. This database helps the company in presenting a unified face to its customers, and improve the quality of the relationship, while enabling customers to manage some information on their own.”

This portion hits the nail on the head. Particularly the part that says, “This database helps the company in presenting a unified face to its customers and improve the quality of the relationship.” This is key in our mission.
